Founded in 2013, the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics is a new college established after the integration of subjects with the Department of Mathematics. Its predecessor was the Hubei Provincial College of Education and Mathematics in 1942. Now, There are three undergraduate majors: mathematics and applied mathematics, information and computational sciences, and applied statistics. Among them, mathematics and applied mathematics are the professional comprehensive reform pilots in Hubei Province and were selected as the “Jingchu outstanding talents” cooperative education program in Hubei Province.

There is postgraduate postdoctoral station in mathematics, a doctoral degree in mathematics first-level discipline, a master's degree in mathematics first-level discipline and cyberspace security, a master's degree in curriculum and teaching theory (mathematics orientation), and a master's degree in education ( Mathematics) The right to confer professional degrees, the right to apply statistical degrees, and the key laboratory of applied mathematics in Hubei Province.

There are 59 staff members in the college. Among them, there are 52 teachers, 10 doctoral tutors, 26 master's tutors, 17 professors and 16 associate professors. The college attaches great importance to the training of the talent team and the construction of the echelons, actively encourages teachers to visit famous scientific research institutions at home and abroad, and vigorously supports teachers to attend academic conferences at home and abroad. A batch of young academic backbone has grown rapidly and has gradually become the backbone.

The college focuses on cultivating highly qualified personnel with rigorous style of study, solid foundation, well-trained and able to engage in teaching, scientific research, development and management in science, technology, education or social related fields. In continuous efforts to improve the quality of talent training process, a large number of high-quality and high-quality talent for the country. Among them, three National Outstanding Youth Fund winners, one "Yangtze River Scholars" special professor and one "thousand person program" special professor. Among the students, one of them was awarded the National Outstanding doctoral dissertation nomination Award, which realized the historic breakthrough of Hubei Provincial Universities in the selection of excellent doctoral thesis, and won the Silver of the New World Mathematics Award. One award was awarded, one was awarded by China Internet Development Foundation Network Security Special Fund, one was "excellent doctoral thesis in Hubei Province", and the number of "excellent Master's degree thesis" in Hubei Province was among the highest in the university. The college has also established good cooperative relations with many foreign colleges and universities, and some students go to study abroad every year.
