On February 2, the Fourth Annual Conference of the Sixth Party Congress of Anhui University of Science and Technology was held in Shungeng Hall.

The opening ceremony of the conference started at 2: 10 p.m. Present at the conference were the Party Secretary of AUST Guo Yongcun, President and Vice Party Secretary Wang Qidong, Vice President and Vice Party Secretary Yuan Liang, Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection Zhou Feng, and Vice President Zheng Mingliang, Wu Zhaoming, Gong Nengping, Dong Yu. Wang Qidong presided over the conference. About 200 Party Congress representatives and invited representatives attended the conference.

At the opening ceremony, Guo Yongcun, on behalf of the School Party Committee, delivered the annual report 2017 entitled "Implementingthe Spirit of the19^thNational Party Congress to push forward the development of a high-level university with local characteristics". Guo Yongcun explicated in the report that the core issue of the conference is the mobilization of all party members, teachers and students together to stay true to the mission of building a high-level university with local characteristics, focusing on the fundamental task of talents cultivation, under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics of a new era and the Spirit of the 19^thNational Party Congress, as well as the policy of provincial Party Committee.

In the report, Guo has summarized achievements since the 3rd Annual Conference of the 6^thParty Congress of Anhui University of Science and Technology:

First, the signature achievements are as follows: Party's construction has been further strengthened; the new campus has been fully put into use, the whole relocation being safe and orderly; and there are many breakthroughs and remarkable achievements in talent work, discipline construction, as well as innovation and entrepreneurship education.

Second, in order to coordinate the "primary responsibility"-Party construction` and the "first priority"- development, we focused on four major tasks: making a solid effort in the publicity and implementation of major tasks put forward by the 19^thCPC National Congress; carrying out education on special topics; promoting major research platforms construction and projects; and accelerating internal development.

Third, we have comprehensively strengthened Party discipline by exercising self-discipline and completing responsibility system.

Fourth, an all-round educational pattern has been established by implementing the spirit of national and provincial ideological and political work conferences.

Fifth, university strength has been improved by conducting responsibility system of school-running.

Besides, in the report Guo mentioned main tasks in 2018 in terms of Party construction and university development. In the aspect of Party construction, we should comprehensively push forward the study and publicity of the spirit of the 19^thNational Party Congress; implement the spirit of national and provincial ideological work and political work conferences and form 10 educational systems for the construction of "eight major projects"; carry out the appointment and management of cadres; continue to enhance the standardization of community-level Party organizations; improve working style; promote discipline construction and fight against corruption; persist in running the Party and school by law; and improve the university Party committee's leading ability. In the aspect of university development, we shall improve the quality of education; build a high-quality faculty team; strengthen discipline construction; enhance technological innovation and social service capacity; form a new pattern of international exchange and cooperation; improve service guarantee capability; develop a harmonious and safe campus; and deepen the comprehensive reform.

After the opening ceremony,group discussions were launched in 21 delegations. Representatives put forward many suggestions after the careful review on theWork Report of University Party Committee 2017,Work Report of University Discipline Inspection Commission 2017, andReport on Party Membership Dues’ Collection, Use and Management 2017. Leaders of UniversityParty Committee participated in group discussions.

At 6:40 p.m., heads of each delegation delivered their discussion results in the meeting held in the conference room on the second floor of Shungenyuan.

At 8:00 p.m., the closing ceremony was held in Shengeng Hall. It was conducted democratic assessment on the university Party committee, commission for discipline inspection, and their members. The conference passed theResolution of the Fourth Annual Conference of the Sixth Party Congress of Anhui University of Science and Technology. The conference closed with the song"The Internationale".
