On the afternoon of January 23, Academician Scholarship Awards Ceremony (Academic year 2016-2017) was held in Shungeng Hall. Present at the Ceremony were Peng Suping, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, alumni ofAUST, Guo Yongcun, Party Secretary of AUST, Wang Qidong, Deputy Party Secretary andPresident of AUST, Yuan Yuan, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of AUST. Wang Qidong presided over the Ceremony.

Guo Yongcun first,on behalf of AUST, expressedgratitude to Academician Peng Suping and Academician Yuan Liang, the founders of the scholarship. In the speech, Guo Yongcun earnestly encouraged the young students to keep pace with the time and work hard to realize their own self-worth in the new era.Academician Peng Suping elaborated on the original intention of the academician scholarship and expressed his best wishes for the future development of his Alma Mater. He reviewed his school time and encouraged students to hold the motto and the spirit of AUST.Wang Qidong noted in his speech that all teachers and students will live up to the expectations of academicians, promotethe internal development, and do our utmostto realize “the dream of AUST”.
Academician Yuan Liang announced the winners of the scholarship and encouraged them to cherish their honor and strive for a further progress.

The Academician ScholarshipAwardswas funded by Academician Peng Suping and Academician Yuan Liang with the purpose to support the development of theirAlma Mater on education and scientific research, as well as to promote scientific progress and talent training in coal industry. Since 2013, 210 outstanding students have won this honor.
