On the afternoon of January 30, the 2nd seminar of the project "Basic Research and Key Technology of Deep Mining Disaster Prediction,Prevention and Control in Shendong Mining Area " was held inBeijing. The project is presided over by Academician Yuan Liang,Anhui University of Science and Technology being the first author affiliation.

Present the meeting were more than 40 technical backbones fromScience and Technology Development Department of National Energy Group, Shendong Coal Branch of National Energy Group, Anhui University of Science and Technology, China University of Mining and Technology, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Institute of Fluid Physics of China Academy of Engineering Physics, Xi'an Research Institute Co., Ltd. of China Coal Technology Engineering Group, Ping’an Coal Mining Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. The meeting was presided over by the project leader, Yuan Liang.

At the meeting, the head of each research group conducted a detailed report on research contents, major progress, difficulties and solutions, andresearch plan of the next stage. Experts from Shendong Coal Branch Company, the delegate of the project, listened to reports and appreciated of the phased achievements. They believed that on the basis of resource-sharing andfully cooperation of all the parties, the fruits of the project would be abundant and valuable.

Academician Yuan Liang spoke highly of the progress made by each group and noted that, “We should make every effort to solve the technological difficulties of Shendong mining areafocusing on the features of the project and the development trend of the coal industryto promote ourresearch team to make contributions to disaster prevention and controlfor the Shendong Coal Branch of National Energy Group and other coal enterprises in China.” Yuanreleaseda detailedresearch plan for the next stage.

In this project, AUST, as the first author affiliation, is in cooperation with a number of universities, institutes, enterprises.The project adopts the organization and management model ofthe national key research and development projectswith the purpose to solve engineering problems in mining area. It is the first time in China and will play ademonstration role in the coal industry.
